This is a significant segment considering the large and increasing quantities of waste being generated in our cities, and also the lack of treatment and disposal options. Indian cities today primarily use land fills to get rid of their waste. However, they have a limited life span and come associated with a host of other environmental challenges, including emissions of landfill gas (methane), leaching of toxins into groundwater, odour spreading into neighbouring areas and lack of suitability of the land for other uses.
To deal with these, the central government in 2015 came up with the Smart cities mission where hundreds of cities across India will be retrofitted to increase quality of life and make them more sustainable. A prime component of these is the plan to set up Waste to Energy plants in all of the urban Centres of the country. These will destroy the waste, and in the process, generate electricity from them. In a way, this is also a way of renewable energy generation.
Our business proposal is to utilize Pyrolysis technology- an advanced German technology which produces minimum pollution and a high amount of power.This technology will not only ensure that the Waste to Energy project runs profitably over the long run but also, causes no trouble with the Pollution control board and authorities over its entire life-span. In addition, we have also organized for project financing through the channel of international climate change financing. We have tied-up with a partner company in the UK who makes this financing available (from the Paris agreement on Climate change). Any company taking up this technology will definitely find a strong business case for partnering with us.

Steinbeis India assisted an entrepreneur who was running a 7.5 MW biomass based power plant using various types of wood and agricultural wastes. The entrepreneur proposed to grow Napier grass and use it directly in the boiler to generate bio-gas and burn the same in the boiler for generation of steam. Based on the techno-economic feasibility study done by Steinbeis India, the entrepreneur made an informed decision.
